JDoe
May – Aug 2017
Helping raise a voice against sexual misconduct. JDoe was an encrypted sexual violence reporting start up. As a member of the initial creation team, I built the product’s core user experience, information architecture, and interface. The app assisted survivors to anonymously report and identify repeat offenders, helping to build strong cases with civil lawyers while ensuring one’s privacy is protected.
JDoe groups reports that concern the same perpetrator algorithmically.
When repeat cases are discovered, users are given the option to contact law firms.
Sexual Misconduct Today
Even amongst today's changing social attitude, many victims remain silent.
Change how we report
By making the reporting process simpler and safer, we can enable more survivors to act within their statute of limitations.
A detailed summary page is generated for each report in order to provide the most up to date information for each case.
Identify repeat offenders
Cases with multiple plaintiffs are less harrowing for survivors and are more likely to win in court.
Discovery of mutual victims encourages the pursuit of legal action to catalyze legal success and prevent future offenses.
Encryption
User information is end-to-end encrypted, which is the same security standard used by government entities and banks.
Empathy driven reporting
We understand that describing a past incident can be difficult. Nothing will ever be sent until a user specifically requests it. JDoe anonymizes all reports.
The interface provides an extremely transparent submission process, giving users complete control over their information.
Map Vision
Familiarize yourself with local laws and resources under the Heal tab. See a live view of reports in Maps.
Set alerts to notify you if you enter an incident dense area using geofencing.
Firms and Partners
Lawyers are provided access to a secure partner app platform.
Cases have all identifying information removed until the user agrees to a consultation.
Multi Platform
JDoe is accessible as an iOS, Android, and web platform. It will always remain free for survivors and witnesses.
Together we are loud.
