Tackling social connection through digital teleportation. Led a team exploring real time spatial computing products with the goal of blurring the line between digital and in person collaboration and co-presence. I developed interfaces and hardware for new technologies, impacting projects such as Meet, Starline, Labs AR/VR, and more.

Details of specific projects are under NDA, but I'm happy to discuss my design approach.

Teleportation and Connection

We want to overcome the obstacle of distance and help people feel more connected than ever before. Forget about the technology and focus on what matters — the conversation. It’s like teleportation. Project Starline shown above.

The impact of co-presence +

Meet Anywhere

Meet Anywhere

Starline is designed as a tailored one on one conversation. But what if we could share this immersive experience with more people and in more places? How can we improve collaboration and versatility?

I led product exploration, driving human factors research, hardware, and software prototyping for a wide range of AR/VR real time experiences.

Communication Dynamics

Communication Dynamics

During the peak of COVID-19, our team prototyped rapidly to understand what it means to feel together in the same space while calling from far away.

Using off the shelf hardware, our team set up a wide range of experiments to help define the most critical attributes of an immersive video conversation.

Presence and Agency

Presence and Agency

Designing for everyone — how can 3D interfaces adapt for different use cases like someone on the road with a laptop, individuals using AR/VR, or those in a meeting room? How can we create a sense of co-presence?

Dynamic Interfaces

Dynamic Interfaces

For hybrid meetings when participants join from different locations using computers and TVs, we devised Dynamic Tiles that adapt to best represent all participants for visibility.

In addition, Companion mode allows in person participants to still access digital tools like sending reactions and raising their hands. It’s the best of both worlds.
